Laser SC model is a part of a range comprised of race skis representing Stöckli's top offer. However, they are not wildly popular with skiers. Their sidecut (114-63-95) and features place them between classical SL and recreational GS model.
This season Laser SC has undergone a face-lifting; its sidecut and features are the same as last season, but the graphics have been modified. Stöckli kept their recognizable 4D structure (honeycombed structure) which makes the ski look thicker. Along with this innovative effect, the classical design of the Laser range also remains, but is enriched with a new color making the ski look more attractive than the last year's model. All the info on the ski, from its features to serial number, are printed on it, which is very interesting and convenient.
Speaking of the technologies, the ski is designed using sandwich construction, which enables more stiffness and better power transfer onto the edges. Titanium strengthening aided by fiberglass strengthens the core itself, providing for the ski's necessary flexibility, and at the same time making it more lightweight. The base is constructed using racing graphite, and production process and tuning are done manually. In technical features of the ski, the term "Swiss precision" is used, which indicates that each ski is carefully examined in order to remove any defects and guarantee a high level of quality.
Since Stöckli doesn't design ski bindings, their skis come with Vist and Salomon bindings. The tested model was equipped with Vist 412 bindings and Speed Lock Pro plate.
Laser SC is also known as a hybrid between SL and GS models, which is partly true, and seen not only from the model's features, but also from their performance on the snow. They proved calm on groomers at all types of skiing. They enter turns with easiness and have great edge hold, even on more hard packed surfaces. During both short and long radius turns, these skis are easily tipped from edge to edge. They proved excellent during short radius turns, when they follow the line of the turn, without taking up much of your energy. Their construction enables them to speed up at the end of the turn, demonstrating their race pedigree. Dynamic skiing on hard packed groomers proved a real pleasure; the harder the snow, the better they performed. This model could be referred to as the "tamed" version of World Cup SL model. A bit surprisingly, it quickly reacts to skier's demands in bumps and worn out snow. The ski proved maneuverable and very flexible on all types of snow. However, it will show its best side on groomers and when skiing on edges. And one more important thing; don't take this ski off-piste because you will regret it (its waist width is only 63 mm).
If you are just entering the world of carving and skiing on edges, don't opt for this model. But if you want to improve your skills in high level skiing and enjoy dynamic ride, Laser SC is a ski for you. Especially if you like to be unique since not many skiers have them.
