The new Spitfires are thus constructed using already tested solutions and materials. They are constructed using Full Twin V Active TI system, consisting of a core made out of composite wood strengthened with a titanum layer. On the upper side, the construction end with two ridges, which additionally ensure adequate pressure onto the ski's edges.
Traditionally, there is Xbi system (X-BALANCE SYSTEM INTEGRATED) of integrated bindings. It is Marker's system, very similar to Elan's Fusion or Tyrolia's Railflex. Its task is to provide for better balance, that is, to maintain the ski's center of gravity while a skier shifts back and forth, which ensures better grasping of the ski and their easier rolling onto edges.
Spitfire model comes in black and white variant, both hjaving the same construction, system of binding integration, sidecuts, sizes and radiuses. Apart from their color, the only difference between them are the bindings. Black variant has N PRO 2S XBi CT 3,5-12, and the white one has N EXP XBi CT 3-11.
The white variant we got to test seems more gallant and refined. Its simple and effective combination of red and white colors with only small dose of black lines gives it an Italian "race" impression reminding one of Ferrari design language. It's a real Italian posh race machine! As with most other producers, this race series' design also stays faithful to tradition and a classical expression – Italic nonserif versal fonts and dynamic lines dominate the upper side of the ski.
As for the ski's performance, the posh-sport image completely makes sense in this case. Doberman range is Nordica's most advanced range, that is, a race range. In this range, the Spitfire plays a role of an allround player, covering the mid span of radiuses and sizes (R12-15,5, sizes 154-178). According to our expectation, the ski does perform equally well in both long and short radius turns. With the Spitfires, you will easily glide down milder slopes, as well as experience their liveliness and tenacity in dynamic turns. These skis are extremely elastic, which, together with their small weight and relatively easy flexion, ensures wide range of performance possibilities on groomed slopes, for wide range of skiers weight categories.
However, the impression on icy slopes is a bit less thrilling; this lightweight and lively ski does not grip ice with the same determination and precision as some stiffer and heavier models. It was tested on worn out and slushy afternoon snow, on which it proved to be quite solid, although its home ground is definitely some nicely groomed slope. However, be careful if you happen to ski through moguls, on which this ski has a tendency to put you off balance due to somewhat lessened stability and its strong flexion.
In any case, Doberman Spitfire van be placed into the category of more solid all-piste race models on the market. We recommend it to all skiers who like to have a polyvalent and tough ski under their feet.
